Butch's Big Bang BBQ Sauce

My Butch's Big Bang BBQ Sauce is good for pork ribs or chicken thighs. Submitted by Ralph Thompson, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, USA

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (16 oz.) of Karo Corn Syrup with Real Brown Sugar
  • 1 bottle (16 oz.) of mild molasses
  • 1 gallon of tangy barbecue sauce that I buy at my grocery store

Method

Mix these three items together as best you can.

When your coals are hot and evenly spread out do the following quickly and in this order:

Sprinkle a handful of maple wood chips on top of the coals.

Next a handful of apple wood chips on top of the coals.

Place the rack into the grill on it's lowest setting.

Place the meat on the rack and close the top.

Cook the meat on the first side for 7 to 9 minutes.

Open the cover and flip the meat to the other side.

Close the cover and cook for 7 to 10 minutes.

Open cover and remove meat from the rack.

Place meat on aluminum foil.

Pour some bbq sauce on top of the meat.

Cover the bbq sauce/meat with aluminum foil as best as you can. Wrap It!

Raise the rack in the grill to the highest setting.

Place your aluminum foil packet with the bbq sauce/meat inside onto the rack and close the cover.

Close the top and bottom air vents so they are barely open.

Leave the meat as it is in the grill for one to two hours (the longer the better).
