Crockpot Roast Beef

Crockpot Roast Beef produces an inexpensive meal of tender, succulent beef that carries the same nutritional value as the most expensive beef. Submitted by David McCarthy, Australia

Ingredients

  • 5 lb chuck roast (or any cheap cut of beef)
  • 2 cans French onion soup
  • 16oz beer (Guinness works very well)
  • 2oz (1 shot) whiskey
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes (stock cubes)

Method

Braise roast in 400F (220C) pre-heated oven for one hour.

Place roast and all other ingredients in slow cooker set on high for first hour and then reduced to low. Stir a bit and simmer 4-5 hours.

Note: Roast can be cut up in chunks to fit in crockpot. After simmering it will be very tender and broken in pieces.

Serve with vegetables and a glass of full bodied red wine like Cabernet Sauvignon (fruity) or Shiraz (spicy).
