How often have you overlooked the humble egg salad when trying to decide on a menu for guests? When you think about it we are all silly, because most people like eggs and will heap praise on you if you find a slightly different way to serve it.

Before you boil an egg, it is wise to remove it from the fridge half an hour before you place it in water. Eggs always taste better when you start cooking them at room temperature.
When cooking eggs for use in a salad, a simple method is to place the eggs into a saucepan of cold water, heat the water to boiling and then switch off the heat and allow them to stand in the cooling water for ten to twelve minutes. Run under cold water while peeling. This will give you a perfect salad egg.
