French Hamburger

French Hamburger gives a touch of European finesse to the humble burger by adding sour cream and onions to the ground beef and topping it with a simple gravy. The result is a dish that will make your guests reassess their view of the hamburger.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds (675 grams) of ground beef
  • 1 medium red onion, chopped
  • 1 generous Tbsp of sour cream
  • 1 generous Tbsp of mayonnaise
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup beef bouillon
  • 1 tsp of lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp of butter or margarine

Method

Mix together first five ingredients and form into patties.

Brown in skillet until desired doneness. Remove to platter and keep warm.

Pour all fat from skillet and reduce heat to low. Add 1/4 cup beef bouillon (or more) scraping bottom of pan for extra flavoring.

When boiling, add lemon juice and butter or margarine.

Boil for 1 minute and then pour over hamburger patties.

Serves 6
