Granola Recipe

This homemade Granola recipe is simple to prepare and makes a great snack as well as mix-in for cereal and yogurt. Pack with school lunches for a healthy treat.

Bowl of granola cereal with fresh strawberry

  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 6 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1/3 cup bran
  • 1/3 cup toasted wheat germ
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened coconut
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 2 cups chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/3 cups raisins

Warm honey and oil together in a sauce pan over low heat. Do not boil.

Add oats, bran, wheat germ, coconut, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and walnuts to the warmed honey and oil.

Stir well to coat.

Sprinkle in the salt and cinnamon and mix well to combine.

Preheat the oven to 350F degrees.

Place 1/3 of the mixture on a large cookie sheet.

Bake 5 minutes.

Toss and bake another 5 minutes.

Toss again and cook for a final 5 minutes — will be light brown when done. Take care not to burn it.

Cook the rest of the mixture in 1/3 batches as above.

Place cooked batches in a large bowl and fold in raisins.

Cool completely before storing in glass jars or it will go soft from moisture if sealed when warm.
