Use one slice of bread for each pound (450 grams) of ground beef to make thick, moist hamburgers. Slice the crust from the bread, break up and soak in milk. Then mix with the ground meat.
Form patties in the normal way and refrigerate for an hour or so to help them set. Cook as you usually do.
