Chicken Burger

by Dianne Stevens

Treat yourself to this Chicken Burger and make a cow happy. This recipe is quick to make using simple ingredients and the finished product tastes delicious.

Only beef purists would argued that you can’t make a burger using chicken. The hamburger has developed over the years to include chicken, lamb and even fish burgers. We are always being told to eat more white meat and this is an ideal method of presenting a good, healthy dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450 grams) chicken pieces, boned, skinned and ground (minced)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup melted fat or vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Shape ground chicken into flat patties; chill.

Place milk and flour in flat dishes slightly larger than the patties.

Place each patty in milk, turn over, then dip into flour.

Place patties into hot skillet with melted fat or oil and season. Cook chicken burgers on each side until desired level of cooking is achieved.

Note: When cooking ground chicken or beef it is advisable to cook “well done” and never rare.
