Ingredients
- 1 T butter
- 1 ham steak 1 inch thick
- 4 T brown sugar
- 1/3 C apple cider vinegar
- 1 t dry mustard
- 3 C strawberries, halved (or strawberry preserves
- 1/2 t cinnamon
- 1/4 t cloves
- 1/4 t ginger
- 1/8 t nutmeg
Instructions
Preheat oven to 300 F.
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Brown steak for 3 minutes. Turn and continue browning for 2 minutes.
Remove from skillet and place in a shallow baking dish.
Place the brown sugar in a bowl and pour vinegar over sugar.
Add dry mustard and whisk until sugar completely dissolved.
Spread the mixture evenly over the meat.
Place the strawberries into a saucepan and add all the spices.
Simmer for 15 minutes over low heat, stirring often.
Immediately pour the strawberry sauce over the meat.
Cover baking dish loosely with foil.
Bake 1 hour.
Let stand in baking dish for 10 minutes before cutting.
